Is blogging bad for your love life?

Don't worry, I'm not going to talk about sex. I'm British. But have you noticed that spouses, partners, boyfriends, girlfriends, get just a bit tetchy if you spend hours communicating with Someone Out There via the computer screen? Can't blame them really, can you - I'd be the same. Mine has decided he's going to open his own blog. This is going to get interesting. I'll need that laptop computer after all. I can see us now, each sitting in front of a screen, furiously typing away and zapping to and fro between our homepages and the site meter to see who's winning on the ratings...

Flattered
A student from the communications faculty of Aarhus University in Denmark, has contacted me to ask me to fill in a nine-question survey on blogging. Since he opened his request with "I've been reading your blog and I find it very interesting", I couldn't resist. (That guy knows how to make a sale...) I'm one of 40 he asked and the questions are very basic: why did you open your blog, who are you writing for, how important is it that others read what you write etc. There's a story to the first answer that I'll tell you later (along with my thoughts on matching socks) but here, for the moment, is my eight question survey. I hope to be bowled off the planet with answers:

The Blogging Survey
1. Why do you blog? Or why not?
2. Where and when do you blog?
3. Are you blogging via a Mac and, if so, is there anything I should know before buying one?!
4. How many visitors do you have on average a month? (Go on tell me...)
5. Is there anyone around you who gets annoyed that you're blogging?
6. Who? How do you handle it?
7. Are you: (a) under 21 (b) 21-40 (c) 40-50 (d) above all that...
8. Have you managed to get visitors in time zones -1, -2 and -3? If so, who?

Answers please via ' Comment' or directly to Editor.Piccadilly@gmail.com. Free gmail accounts on offer for the first three fully completed surveys! (Answers sent to my gmail will not be published or revealed).

I started blogging for a gmail account - but I kinda like writing about my favorite topic - Me :) so I continued.

I usually blog at home late in the evening - from my laptop while laying on my bed watching TV.

I am a Computer Science major - I dont know how to use a MAC :P - I grew up on a Microsoft compatible.. so I stay.

I get about 8 hits a day on average - which would put me at 240 a month - and I have a few regulars.

No one around me who cares if I am blogging - except maybe my cat. If he is bothering me I usually just pick him up and toss him out the room and close the door.

I am 26 years old.

The only person that I can say for sure is in another time zone is you. But, I have seen a few people from other countries...

The other day I was asked if blogging was a sexual term. I had a couple of very witty remarks, but something tells me that my 90 year-old grandmother was not the person to tell them to.

That's a laugh - I can just imagine someone asking if blogging is something to do with X. It sounds like a dubious activity, doesn't it.
Thanks to you and November's Child for your comments. Waiting for the rest...
