Travelled to work on the metro, squashed close up to a Moslim girl wearing a pale blue headscarf with beads on one side, pinned to a grey scarf underneath. She had the sad, tired look in her eyes that you so often see in those headscarved girls - particularly the Turkish ones (the Moroccans seem to have got the knack of looking sexy in a black headscarf). I toyed with the idea of asking her why she was wearing a headscarf and whether it felt OK to be wearing it. (It might, you never know). But I left it as I know that's not polite, or kind and the poor girl's probably got enough on her plate without being challenged to THINK at that time in the morning. Also, I know she'd just say she's wearing it because she's a Muslim - but that's not really an answer...
I don't mind the headscarf at all. Just wish those eyes didn't look so sad.
