I'm drinking a dandelion coffee. Or, to be more precise, Symingtons Dandelion Coffee Compound "prepared by a unique process from specially cultivated dandelion root, dried and roasted in the traditional way and extracted without chemicals, thus retaining all its natural value."
It is, according to the label on the tall dark green cannister "especially suitable for delicate digestions and, being caffeine-free, makes a perfect nightcap". After Friday night's champagne, wine, sardines and pea soup escapade, I think I qualify on the delicate digestion front...
I do like it. It's sort of soothing and neutral. Have you ever heard of it or drunk it? This particular brand is made by Thomas Symington & Co Limited, of Sisson Road, Gloucester in the south of England. I've been drinking the stuff on and off for years because I remember looking for it in natural food shops in Vienna and never being able to find it. Can't get it in Holland either, that I know of. And they don't give a web address on the tin.
I've just typed "Symingtons Dandelion Coffee Compound" into Google and found a picture of it: Goodness Direct. Ah, yes, and you can order it online too. (I'm not on commission...) The same Google search page leads to another UK-based alternative health site too: AltHealth.
