Red sky in the morning

I'm heading to the sandwich bar for the first ham cheese croissant of the year... yum. Red sky this morning, meaning rain to come later if the old rhyme is true: "Red sky at night, shepherd's delight; red sky in the morning, shepherd's warning."

All flags on the rooftops that I can see from my office are at half mast for the SE Asia disaster victims. Today we join in the national three minute silence that's been called for across Europe. As far as I know, this is unprecedented - to honour a period of silence during office hours. Personally, I think Britain did it better. They fell silent shortly before midnight on New Year's Eve.

At any rate, don't ring me at 12 noon. I'll be praying.
