Amsterdam houses along the Herengracht canal. Note the reflected blue sky! We parked our car just opposite here, locking it in reverse gear so we didn't end up in the gracht (the Dutch name for this particular type of canal).
Atheneum bookshop on the Spui (pronounced 'spow', rhyming with 'cow') centre of town. The place to buy your art books and mags. Its also around here that the big demonstrations took place in Amsterdam at the end of the sixties. You wouldn't know it now. It's just a pleasant, cobble-stone square, lined with cafes. They hold book markets and art fairs here at the weekends.

Bikes and cafes on the Spui, just across from the bookshop. We sat here and had a coffee and a tea. The place was packed, as always. Everyone was making the most of the autumn sun. The chap sat next to us had black glasses on and was smoking weed. He asked me if I'd got my camera out of a cracker. (No, slick guy, I got it with a pair of Dockers...Think what you like, I'm having fun here).
