Got mother on the phone, been on for half an hour, actually not much to say (on either side) but it's taken us half an hour to say it. I'm now one hour and 17 minutes - and about 3,500 words - behind on my schedule. I know by now that miracles don't happen after 9.18pm, not when it comes to academic stuff, but I will valiantly plough on, hoping that I'll make such significant progress that I'll end the day feeling as though the end of the tunnel is in sight. (That means the end of the paper, for those of you who haven't been following this tale of torture).
