Skype scored for me today. We phoned Bud's mother in South America so she could speak to his daughter who visited today (putting to rest the conflict of the past months). The line fluttered a little but the two could hear each other loud and clear. The old lady chuckled happily, her voice coming through the computer's speakers as though she was sitting just behind the screen. We're not using headphones yet so it's more like a normal conversation - and all three of us were able to chip in. We chatted for five minutes 20 seconds (!) and it cost us €1.40. The great thing is that, at that price, you can afford to ring up just whenever you want. Apparently there's a bit of an echo at the other end if you're not using headphones (of if your speakers are near to the microphone which is the case with my laptop) but I still think it's brilliant. And if you're ringing someone with a Skype connection then it's completely free.
I'm beginning to sound like an advert but some things just are GREAT!
