Good night/Good morning

I'm red-eyed and tired again. Just finished rewriting the first 1,000 words of that darned assignment - see a few posts down. It's easier than the first time round but not much. Tomorrow I have to be up at the crack of dawn to go to a conference out near the coast. It'll be nice to see colleagues from around the globe but I'd really much sooner just stick around here and crack on with this. You know how it is - when you get in the flow of things it's far easier to carry on than to put it aside and then have to get back into the thinking pattern on another day. It'll probably be Wednesday before I can do much more. And probably Wednesday before I get back here. I'll change the title bar then. Don't know what it looks like on your screen but on my little Mac, the dots just disappear off to infinity.

I made my first free computer-to-computer Skype call today. It's really amazing. You just click the green button and a few seconds later a familiar voice comes out of your speakers. I love it.

Of course, did I need to ask, someone in officialdom over the the USA is already making plans to stamp it out. Well, for Americans, at least. Has anyone noticed how our freedom is gradually being eroded by the greatest defender of freedom on earth? I have colleagues who spend their entire day doing nothing other than work out how to comply with US anti-terror regulations. Sorry, just had to get that off my chest....

And suddenly, scenes of Bali spring to mind and I have to say, my heart goes out to the people there. Didn't mean to end on a low note but there you are. Strange world. Cherish every day you have.
