Is there anyone out there in the jungle?

I've just tried calling Congo at the exact same moment as the little green icon popped up to the top of my contacts list in Skype, telling me that this new contact has come onlne. So I pressed the green button and it rang and rang but no answer, so I hung up. Now I'm wondering to myself, what's she doing out there? I'm imagining that she's in the kitchen, making a meal and has gone outside to sit on the veranda and enjoy the sound of gently swishing palm trees mingled with chirping crickets. There'll be a glass of wine on the table and maybe a candle, or two, and perhaps there are friends around, chatting about the day's events at work. Somewhere out in the darkness there'll be the odd rustling noise as some other beings pass through the undergrowth. And there'll probably be car lights going by, between the trees, from a nearby road. There'll be other lights around too from the houses nearby and the flicker of TV screens as the international community settles down for another night in Africa.

It sounds sort of romantic. I can almost feel the warmth. And that' s welcome as it's turned cold here after a glorious Indian summer which seemed to last forever (and certainly for all the time I was doing Draft 1 of Assignment Two).

So come on, tell me Congo, is the picture right?! When you've figured Skype out, by the way, you'll find I've sent you a little message on 'Chat'.

Hope you're having a great time down there with those chirping crickets.
