Holland is in shock. On Tuesday, an attacker in traditional Islamic dress butchered filmmaker and Islam critic Theo Van Gogh in broad daylight on an Amsterdam street. The Dutch/Moroccan - born and brought up in the Netherlands - left a letter pinned to his victim's chest. Today, the Minister of Justice revealed the contents of that note: clear threats against a number of Dutch politicians and a warning of 'jihad' in the Netherlands. Difficult times ahead. The Dutch World Service has an article on the letter: read more.

That is an interesting story, I know about the murder but not the note. Any links to Dutch media with more information? Thanks.
The frightening thing here in the USA is that we have our own religious war about to begin. Does the rest of the world not see the similarity in the rhetoric of our president and all other religious zealots. I am sorry for you loss and hope your country can heal itself better than this one has.
Anon: Thanks for your comment. I've included a link to the story on the Dutch World Service.
Sarefenix: Yes, there are frightening similarities. The world is polarising. It's tempting to put 'our side' of it all at Bush's door but truth is, we have plenty of Christian fanatics here in Europe. Looks like it's time for Europe to start sorting out its own mess.
