Well, he's at rest now, bless him. I'm glad it's all over. I didn't watch the full spectacle - just turned on the TV now and again during the morning to get an overall impression. My overall impression is that the Roman Catholic Church is a mighty organisation run by a lot of very old men. Women don't get a look-in, unless they arrive with their heads demurely covered like the next best Muslim.
In fact, my lasting impression from the Pope's funeral will be the wind - all those cardinals in billowing red gowns, clutching their hats, or whatever they're called, and that nice red bible on the coffin whose pages were supposed to flutter in the breeze. They did flutter for a few minutes until a rather hefty gust slammed the good book shut.
