It's hailstoning out there

And it's getting hazardous cycling to work through slush and over unmelted ice that sends you sliding on your way into the gutter! But it does give a feeling of achievement, battling against the elements just to get to the international bakery and back.

Had a hilarious meeting today in which our department head asked us all (all four of us) to monitor our workload over the coming weeks so that he can work out how many staff we'll need. I wanted to laugh out loud - there isn't any work for crying out loud and he hasn't noticed yet? It's been like this now for weeks, just dawdling around with the odd memo, running off a message for someone (only to have it shelved after the 19th revision) and anyone looking on our intranet site can see it. How come he can't? He seemed to think it'd be some incredibly difficult process to monitor this avalanche of work (maybe it's heading our way but there's no sign of it yet). Ah well, better humour him with a strategic approach to nothingness.

I move to another department next week.
