The Dutch are known for being as mean as the Scots. (Sorry, Scots) The Dutch Government has just given us a display of national character by cancelling the ruling which allows us to put a small sum of money aside, tax free, to buy a computer. The minister told us on TV that no-one needed it. So everyone started rushing out to buy their computers ahead of the cancellation - expected in September. Only to pick up the newspaper and read, on Friday, that the ruling had been cancelled with immediate effect. If you hadn't bought your PC by 5pm Friday, tough luck. And why do it so early? Because the Dutch Government didn't want to lose money. I was going to buy mine on Saturday, damn you.
