Still around...

But getting very lax about blogging. Sorry folks. It's good if you give me a nudge occasionally and remind me I'm neglecting my friends round here.
The family research is going well. I'm almost at the point of blowing up a little myth that's been handed down through our family through two, maybe three, four or even more generations. The focus is now on Oldham, which, for those of you who don't know the north of England, is a rather unenticing town in the former cotton belt of Lancashire. Not the sort of place you want to originate from if you're trying to put a classy story together but as good as any other place when it comes to it. No wonder I prefer cotton and wool over any other fabrics; 80% of my genes have spent the last couple of centuries producing the stuff....
I've also started getting more organised at work, which is good news. So organised that I can't find anything, of course. I'm not used to having papers filed - just bunged in a drawer...
And - before you give up on me completely for being dull and unimaginative (what with digging into old documents and setting up filing systems) - I've also started playing the clarinet again. And stopped, having heard that the 25-year-old second-hand clarinet really isn't ever going to give me those deep, rich tones that make a clarinet so beautiful to listen to and so satisfying to play. So this is going to get expensive. I want a new clarinet.
Oh, and I've arranged our living room furniture in a sensational stroke of genius that means Buddy and I now feel as though we've got loads more space. Anyone want me as an interior decorator.
