I have a reader! Yes! Congo has flown in and told me she actually misses my casual posts - so I better say something.
BOO.
Actually, I do have something quite funny to tell. You know I've been doing this course? And you know it's been a complete pain in the neck and I've laboured over these assignments we have to do and found them nothing short of torture. You probably don't know - but I'll tell you - that I've sort of vowed to myself that I won't go near any academic course EVER AGAIN.
Well, the other day, the line manager in the new department where I'm going to work said he'd like to send me a six-month course (three modules) in England, starting in May. It's about Sustainability - the area I'm going to be working in in the international bakery - so I immediately said yes, thinking 'It's bound to be one of these professional courses where you just turn up, listen and take part'.
Yesterday, I found out that it's another degree course at a very well known British university and will require that I write THREE MORE ASSIGNMENTS!
That means that by the end of 2006, I'm going to be one of the best-qualified zombies ever to turn up for duty at the international bakery. I can't believe it; it's like some Cosmic Joke: THREE MORE of these bloody things!!!
What's even more amazing is that I'm really looking forward to it! It gives me one huge kick - of the nice sort - to think that by the end of this year the Corporate Employer will have invested over eight thousand pounds sterling in just 18 months in this one employee: ME. I might even feel obliged to hang around for a bit longer....
